On or about August 2, 2012, in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois, County Department, Criminal Division, Police Officer John Haleas was found guilty of one count of Attempted Obstructing Justice under 720 ILCS 5/8-4 (“Attempt”), incorporating the provisions of 720 ILCS 5/31-4 (“Obstructing Justice”), a Class A Misdemeanor, for attempting to obstruct the defense of any person by knowingly furnishing an alcohol drug influence report with false information in the course of his official duties as a police officer, which constituted a substantial step towards the commission of obstructing justice, thereby impeding the Department’s efforts to achieve its policy and goals and/or bringing discredit upon the Department
