On May 28, 2014, the Superintendent of Police filed with the Police Board of the City of Chicago charges against Police Officer Venus Rodriguez, Star No. 12474 (hereinafter referred to as “Respondent”), recommending that the Respondent be suspended from the Chicago Police Department for a period of forty-five (45) days for violating several Rules of Conduct. On June 17, 2014, the Superintendent moved to withdraw the charges against the Respondent without prejudice because prior to the filing of charges the Respondent elected to file a grievance pursuant to Section 9.6.B. of the Agreement between the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 7 and the City of Chicago. The Police Board has considered the Superintendent’s motion. IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the Superintendent’s motion is granted. This Order is adopted and entered by a majority of the members of the Police Board: Demetrius E. Carney, Ghian Foreman, William F. Conlon, Rita A. Fry, and Rhoda D. Sweeney.
